BANGALORE: Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) on Tuesday effected a hike in prices of petrol by Rs 3.22 in the city. Other state-owned oil companies such as the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) deferred announcing the hike Today.
Confusion prevailed in fuel dispensing bunks in the city as reports of hike in petrol prices prevailed throughout the evening as officials from PSU oil companies denied a hike in the city on Tuesday.
Motorists were seen rushing to fuel bunks and long queues were seen from different parts of the City.
Sources in IOC, the state-level coordinator for oil PSUs, said the hike announced was effective for fuel sold by the BPCL outlets only and not other bunks. “The BPCL has announced a hike on Tuesday night,” said a source in the IOC, which also raised its rates today.
