New Delhi: There is some respite for the common man who was greatly affected by the recent steep hike in petrol prices. Government owned oil companies have decided to reduce petrol prices by Rs 2 per liter following a slight reduction in crude oil prices in the global market. The revised price would be effective from Saturday midnight.
It may be recalled here that the NDA and its allies and also the Left Parties had called a nationwide bunch on May 31 against the steep hike in petrol prices. The Bunch had evoked a good response in various parts of the nation as also in Karnataka.
Though the oil companies had expressed their consent to reduce petrol prices on the eve of the bundh, the government had not approved the same as there was chance of the NDA allies taking political mileage of the same.
