Mangalore : The members of Popular Front staged a protest in front of DC Office against the illegal police arrest and harassment.
Addressing the protestors, Anwar Sadath, district president of PFI said that a team led by Bantwal Circle Inspector Nanjundegowda has arrested nine persons belonging to Popular Front of India (PFI), for allegedly plotting to kill a hardcore Hindu leader.
He also said that the nine people including Nawaz, Naushad, Ashraf, Riay, Rasheed, Ansar, Saifulla, Noorul Amina and Shareef were going to Mysore on the night of December 11 to take part in a state level PFI meet there. They were arrested on the way in Kaikamba as per the pre plan against the organization.
When contacted the Bantwal police they said that they have only taken them into custody for some inquiry and that they will leave them. But even after 24 hours, they didn’t do so. When enquired again they said that since Puttur Samajotsava was being held they cannot be released. But now, they have changed the case and made it as a plan to kill Hindu activist on them and this act of police is condemned, he said.
Now it has been cleared that all the case is on the hands of Venkatesh Prasanna of District Crime Intelligence Bureau. He was the officials who always tortured the innocent people and when it comes on the Muslim youth, he has separate plans on them.
He also said that, there are various cases on Venkatesh Prasanna like ransom collection and link with criminals of rowdy sheet. Hence the authority must suspend him from the post as soon as possible, he said.
Abdul Razak delivered the presidential address at the protest. Akbar Ali welcomed the guests. Neemath Ali, Udupi district president and P B D’Sa of PUCL were present.
