Mangalore : Members of Popular Front of India staged a protest in front of Konaje Police Station on 27 October, demanding to arrest Bajrang Dal and VHP activists in connection with a forced marriage of a Catholic girl with a Hindu boy at Arya Samaj Mandir recently.
Addressing the protesters, creative Foundation Chairman Anwar Sadat said that the activists of Bajrang dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishat abducted a Christian girl and forced her to marry a Hindu boy named Roshan Shetty at the Arya Samaj Mandir on October 16. They are the one who are destroy the peace and harmony in the society in the name of Love Jihad.
He also stated that VHP Leaders including Jagadish Shenava, Praveen Kumar, Sharat, Ganesh Kumpala and Dinesh Kadri forcibly brought Vivitha, daughter of Patrick D’Souza from Amblamogeru to Arya Samaj Mandir and forced her to marry Roshan Shetty according to the Hindu rituals. Hence a case has been registered at the Konaje police station under IPC section 323, 366, 342, 343 and 347 against the culprits.
He said that everyone has the right to love and lead their life in this country but the members of Sangh Parivar are attacking the girls and boys in the name of love Jihad. The moral policing and Pub attacks instances have created fear in the mind of people and brought bad name to the district and now abducting other community girls and converting them has also increased the fear aong the girls and their parents. Hence PFI demands the concerned authorities to arrest all the six accused as soon as possible and punish them.
Later they submitted a memorandum to the Police commissioner R Hitendra through ACP Uday Nayak.
PFI district president Atavulla A M, Imam council president Jaffer Sadiq Faizi V, PFI secretary Hanif Katipalla, Valerian D’Souza and SDPI state committee member Alphonso Franko participated in the protest.
