Mangalore : Popular Front of India distributed loan scholarships to eligible students at a function held at St Aloysius College Auditorium on October 4, Friday.
KS Mohammad Masood, President of Muslim Central Committee who distributed the scholarships urged the youth to derive inspiration from Harekala Hajabba, who despite not having anything for himself was able to set up a school in his village. He also stressed the need for women empowerment.
Harekala Hajabba and Vasudeva Bolur spoke as chief guests.
Mohammed Kakkinje of PFI who spoke said the scholarship is given as interest free loan and the students will have to repay it once they get jobs. A sum of Rs 10.85 lakhs was distributed to 200 students.
