Mangalore: A Married couple was arrested for cheating more than 30 Mangalore photographers promising the jobs in United States.
The Pandeshwar police on Thursday June 19 arrested accused couple, Haricharan Rao and his wife Rachana Rao from their residence at Saraswatipuram in Mysore.
In around 9 months ago the couples met a photographer in KS Rao Road and offered the vacancies in USA. He believed their offer because one them familiar with the Aravind Bhat who also cheated from the couple.
Haricharan Rao and his wife Rachana collected Rs 30,000, and Rs 75,000 from the photographers. Total Rs 12 lakh collected from 30 photographers, promising free visas and repayment of their money before they would leave for the US.
As per the private complaint lodged in the second JMFC court, the court directed to the Pandeshwar police arrest the couple before July 20.
As a perfect information received the couple were staying in the house at Saraswatipuram in Mysore the Pandeshwar police arrested the couple with the help of Mysore town police in the morning around 6pm on Thursday June 19th.
The couple told the photographers that the Infosys was hiring photographers for its ‘Colourworld’ project in the US. A chief photographer would be paid salary equivalent to Rs 4.5 lakh, and assistant photographer Rs 2.5 lakh, couple promised their victims.
According to the promise the photographers transferred the money to the SBI account in Mysore, but the couple not provided visa or job since nine months.
It is said that the couples involved a number of cases in Mysore and Bangalore. They are accused in a fake currency case in Mysore and also kidnapping of a minor girl.
Bangalore’s Taj West End hotel management was filed complaint in High Grounds police station for without paying the hotel bill Rs 2.5 lakh.
