Mangalore : Large number of students from the department of Physiotherapy and Allied Sciences organized a peace protest rally from Jyothi Circler to DC Office on Dec 27, Thursday.
Addressing the protest, Dr U T Ifthikar Ali, Academic Council Member of RGUHS said that the students are gathered to protest against the unfortunate Brutal Gang rape of a Physiotherapy Student in Delhi.
He said that Indian Association of Physiotherapists strongly condemns the recent brutal gang rape and sexual assault Physiotherapy Interns in Delhi.
This act is outrageous and we will fight till get justice and the accused are punished so that it must serve as a warning to perpetrators.
Rithu Chauhan, student of Physiotherapy, Jaipur said that the protest is been staged to demand justice the gang rape victim and create awareness among the women on the incident so that they can take preventive measures and walk free in the society with courage.
She also said that after this incident, the women in the country don’t feel themselves safer on the streets or anywhere else. Further Law must be formed for awarding death sentence which is one of the rarest to the perpetrators of crime against women and a law to provide exemplary punishment for the crime against women.
The Physiotherapy and Allied Sciences students from KMC, Srinivas College of Physiotherapy and MV Shetty Colleges participated in the protest rally.
Dr Umashankar Mohanty, president of IAP, Dr Mohammad Suhail, secretary member, RGUHS and others were present.
