Lucknow: The Allahabad High Court has admitted a writ petition seeking direction for probe into allegations levelled by India Against Corruption (IAC) activist Arvind Kejeriwal against Robert Vadra, son-in-law of Congress president Sonia Gandhi.

The PIL was filed on Tuesday before Allahabad HC’s Lucknow bench and the court admitted it today.

The petitioner – Nootan Thakur, a social activist – sought a direction to the Prime Minister’s secretary for conducting an inquiry into the allegations related to transactions between Vadra and realty major DLF.

The court has issued a notice to the Prime Minister’s Office and has given three weeks’ time to reply to the petitioner’s demands.

Kejriwal has accused Vadra of being involved in illegal land deals with realty major DLF, which saw his fortune rise from a mere Rs 50 lakh to over Rs 300 crore between 2007 and 2010.

While the Congress has come to Vadra’s defence and DLF rejected the allegations, Vadra himself has chosen to stay mum and not rebutted the allegations.

IAC member and lawyer Shanti Bhushan said the dealings between DLF and Vadra were covered by the Prevention of Corruption Act.

IAC has also accused the Congress-ruled Haryana, Rajasthan and Delhi governments of favouring DLF in allotment of land.
