Mangaluru: ‘Pili Nalike – 3’, tiger dance competition was inaugurated by Sri Sri Sri Prasanna Theertha Swamiji of Shri Subrahmanya Math, on Monday at Mangala Stadium Volleyball court.
The event was organised by Youth Congress district President Mithun Rai in collaboration with ‘Namma TV.
Speaking on the occasion Swamiji said that tiger dance is the tradition of Tulunadu and Mithun Rai has done a great job by organising an event which was needed to save the traditions of this land.
“Usually tiger dancers roam from one home to another by entertaining the people through their dance. It is a traditional way of celebrating Dasara in Tulunadu. Youth should show some interest towards organising this kind of events instead of wasting time on modern gadgets,” he said.
Chief Whip of the government in legislative assembly Ivan D’Souza said that this is a big opportunity provided to the tiger dancers by Mithun Rai and Namma Tv. They have given a unique platform for a unique folk dance form.
Addressing the gathering organiser Mithun Rai said “people also should support the tiger dancers by welcoming them when they come to your door. Today nine teams have taken part and all the teams are winners because they are retaining the culture and art of Tulunadu.”
