Mangalore : Pingara Rajyotsava Award instituted by the Kannada weekly Pingara to be conferred on Harikrishna Punaroor, the former president of Karnataka Sahitya Parishad.
Speaking at the press meet Raymond D’Cunha, the editor of Pingara, said that the award will be conferred on Harikrishna Punaroor at a awards ceremony to be Town Hall on Nov 15 Tuesday.
The award will be conferred on Punaroor in recognition for his contribution to the society by constructing 101 homes for homeless people at Talipady in Kinnogoli near Mulky.
The selection committee comprised Fr. William Menezes, the PRO of Mangalore Diocese; Shrikar Prabhu, the president of BJP south zone; Devanandini Marla Jain, the advocate and president of the JD (S) women’s wing North Zone; Walter Nandalike, the editor-in-chief of Daijiworld; Rohan R. Monteiro, the managing director of Property Infratech India Pvt. Ltd.; and C. G. Pinto, the general manager of Corporation Bank; headed by Roy Castelino of the Konkani Prachar Sanchalan.
Bishop Aloysius Paul D’Souza will bless the award ceremony, which will be held on Nov 15. The chief guests will be Shri Charukeerthi Panditacharya Mahaswami, K. Abhayachandra Jain; Dr. Mohan Alva; P. B. Harish Rai; and Shrikar Prabhu.
