Udupi: An under trial in Udupi sub-jail, who had attempted to kill a rowdy sheeter, Pitty Nagesh, was hacked to death in Anjaru near Hiriyadka on Friday morning here.
Vinod Shettigar, the victim in today’s murder, was convicted of assaulting the Udupi Police earlier in Mangalore.
A huge cake was brought in from outside to celebrate the birthday of another jail bird Nagaraj, on Thursday contained deadly weapons inside (the cake)! The birthday boy Nagaraj, with his two accomplices, Riyaz and Muthappa, killed Vinod inside the jail at the time of bath, using those weapons.
The Taluk magistrate visited the spot of inquest. The killer gang is under strict watch now in the sub-jail.
