Mangalore : A placement firm in Mangalore has reportedly cheated nearly 21 people from various places after collecting thousands of rupees from them and promising jobs in Dubai.
Nine of the 21 men have returned to their hometown with the help of Indian Embassy. According to one of the affected person, Jagadish of Murdeshwar, the agency had collected as much as Rs 90,000 and had promised good job in Dubai.
They were taken to Abu Dhabi on September 17 where they were deployed in a dates company.
They, it is learnt were made to work from 8 am to 8 pm and then taken to Dubai where they were made to plant saplings on road sides. When they refused, they were left on the streets having no other way, they contacted Indian Embassy which made arrangements for the return of nine of them.12 more are still in Dubai and are waiting for arrangements for their return.
