Mangaluru: Planning’s are going on to import Giraffe, Zebra and Chimpanzees from Middle Africa with the help of sponsors to Pilikula Nisargadhama, said Deputy Commissioner A B Ibrahim on Thursday.
Addressing the media personnel at DC Office, he said that the authorities have consulted the corporate companies with regard to this, as the project will cost nearly Rs 1.75 crore.
“A giraffe will cost nearly Rs 15 lakh, zebra and chimpanzees will cost nearly Rs 50 lakh to each,” he said.
He further said that there are there are totally 1200 animals belonging to 120 species are present at Pilikula. Talks are going on to exchange the animals also.
“We are importing animals in pairs, so the process is not much easier. If everything goes as per the plan, then new animals will arrive at Pilikula in next six months,” he added.
