Mangalore: In a Public statement released by MCC authorities in city, on Tuesday, it was stated that the MCC commissioner instructed his subordinates on Monday to raid they promises of several plastic carry bag dealers in Market and raids were accordingly conducted by 2 teams one under Environmental engineer M.R. Shetty. Covering Central Market and the other headed by AHO, S.N. Bhat around Kadri market.

Sanitation experts and inspectors assisted the raids.

500 Kgs of bags were seized. Several private businessmen and companies were targeted, and 17 offenders were penalised.

Several godowns were closed with no ownership claimed, in Bunder area. Seized carry bags had no address of the manufacturers.

MCC stated that it would trace out absconding whole salers and seal the godowns to penalise them until they realised what was wrong in plastic usage.
