Mangalore : DK District in-charge Minister CT Ravi has informed that all types of plastic bags will be banned in the district by November 1.
Speaking at the Mangalore taluk level KDP meeting held at Moodbidri Samaja Mandir on September 11, Tuesday, he pointed out how plastic wastes were the main cause of clogging of drains and environment degradation.
On the Naxal menace in the district, the minister said a meeting of the deputy commissioners of DK, Udupi and Chikmagalur districts will be convened in the presence of central and state representatives to decide on the package for people in Naxal affected areas.
At the KDP review meeting, officials informed the minister that as much as 119 hectares of farm land was affected in the taluk due to heavy rains. During the meeting, the minister warned of criminal proceedings against those who produced fake documents to secure ration cards.
Notices were served on the occasion to the officers of the social forestry, animal husbandry officials of Puttur and Town Planning officer of MUDA for failing to be present at the meeting.
