Mangalore : The state government is planning to confer the Karnataka Rajyotsava award for one achiever from the Scouts and Guides every year, said Honourable Minister for Higher Education Dr V S Acharya.
He was speaking after inaugurating the Platinum Jubilee Commemorative Building at the District Training Centre for Scouts and Guides at Pilikula Nisarga Dhama in Vamanjoor on October 3, Sunday.
The programme was organized by the Dakshina Kannada District Association (DKDA) of the Bharat Scouts and Guides, Karnataka.
He also said that, the students must join Scouts and Guides and actively participate in social service activities. There is necessary to promote scouts and guides throughout the state in order inculcate self discipline in children.
He assured to discuss the matter with Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa to fund the minimum of Rs 56 lakhs and distribute free Scouts and Guides uniform for economically backward students.
MLA of Moodbidri Abhaya Chandra Jain, inaugurated the IA Kairanna Auditorium. While, Dayanada Pai, entrepreneur inaugurated the dining hall, named after him.
Deputy Commissioner V Ponnuraj, president of DKDA welcomed the gathering. Vasudeva Bolar, Joint District Secretary delivered the introductory speech.
Later Kondajji B Shanmukhappa, IA Kairanna, KN Alva, Lancy Mascarenhas and Prassanna D’Silva were felicitated for their special contribution in Scouts and Guides.
Santhosh Kumar Bhandary, MLA UT Khader, Vinaya Kumar Sorake, Dr KR Shetty and B Nagaraj Shetty were present.
