Udupi : Several dignitaries including the Bishop of Udupi Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo and Vicar General Msgr Dr Baptist Menezes attended the platinum jubilee celebration of Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Kanajar held recently.

The Bishop  unveiled the bust of the founder of Our Lady of Lourdes Church Msgr William A Lewis. The mass was celebrated by the Bishop along with vicar general of Udupi diocese, Vicar Forane of Karkala Fr John A Barboza and parish priest Dr John Mendonca.

Priests from the 14 neighbouring parishes participated in the celebrations. A function held in this connection at Kanajar Sauhardha Bhavan  was presided by the Bishop.

The special souvenir   brought out on the occasion was released by Msgr Dr Baptist Menezes. He also read the message sent from the Vatican by Pope Francis.

Awards were presented to winners of Bible quiz and cultural competitions. A lunch was also served to the chief guests and the participants.
