HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad metro rail has got all safety approvals and is ready for inauguration by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on November 28.
On Monday, the Commissioner of Railway Safety (CMRS) granted approval for the remaining 10 km stretch from SR Nagar to Mettuguda. Approvals were already got for the 8 km stretch from Nagole to Mettuguda, and 12 km stretch from Miyapur to SR Nagar. The stretch for which safety approval was got on Monday lies in between the two stretches for which approvals were got earlier.
Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) managing director N V S Reddy had announced a few weeks back that all approvals for the metro rail would be got by November 20.The inauguration of the entire 30 km stretch from Miyapur to Nagole would be a record in the entire country. No other metro opened for public operations on such a long stretch. With chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao urging the authorities to complete all the works, the Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) and L&TMRHL worked overtime to get things in place.
Shivanand Nimbargi, MD & CEO, LTMRHL said, “This authorisation will enable us to operate the Metro trains from Nagole to Miyapur via Ameerpet Interchange Metro Station seamlessly. CMRS approval for the Stage 1 – Nagole to Mettuguda and Stage 2 – Miyapur to SR Nagar have already been authorised for commissioning. This is a great moment for team LTMRHL and its partners, who have worked incessantly to make this happen.”
L&T Metro Rail (Hyderabad) Limited (LTMRHL) announced that the CMRS Ram Kripal and team from Railway Safety Commission inspected the civil works, track, RoB, viaduct, stations, electrical, signalling and train control, telecommunication, rolling stock and other railway systems of the Hyderabad Metro Rail. They also conducted speed trials on the metro train from November 17- 19.

A grand function has been planned for opening of the Hyderabad metro rail on November 28 at the Miyapur metro rail station. This is being done when Ivanka Trump, advisor to US President Donald Trump will be in Hyderabad to attend the Global Economic Sumit (GES). The Rs 14,000 crore metro rail has been planned in three corridors in Hyderabad. However, the 30 km route that will be inaugurated is part of two different stretches, and which connects from one end of the city to another.
On December 18, 2015, Municipal administration minister K T Rama Rao had taken a metro rail ride from Mettuguda to Nagole – a stretch that had been completed then itself.
