Mangaluru: After 43 days of RSS activist Sharath Madivals murder, the police arrested two persons on Monday in connection to this case.
Speaking to the press Western Range IGP Harishekharan stated that one of arrested men is a PFI leader from Chamarajanagar.
The accused are Abdul Shafi (36) of Haladi Sajipamunnur village of Bantwal taluk and Khaleelulla (30) of Galipura village in Chamrajanagara district. Khaleevulla happens to the President of the Chamrajanagara unit of the PFI, the IGP stated.
The IGP said that the accused have been produced before the court and entrusted to police custody to facilitate further interrogation.
The IGP further said that the police have gathered clue regarding the other absconding accused in the case and would arrest them at the earliest.
The police officers ACP Valentine D’Souza, DCIB inspector Sunil Naik, Puttur inspector Mahesh Prasad, Beltangady inspector Ravi and DCIB inspector Amanullah the seven officers operated this case.
Total 30 people questioned and investigation in Maharashtra, Kerala, Bengaluru, Shivamogga, Karwar and other places. We were able to nab the two accused with sheer hard work, persisting day and night. We also kept watch on jails in Mangaluru, Belagavi, Mysuru and Karwar. Our teams visited Chamarajanagar, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and other places.
It is said that the murder was made to avenge the murder of Ashraf Kalai.
The accused have produced them in the court and asked for police custody,” the IGP said.
“There are four or five more accused in the case and we will nab them soon. We have tracked down all the accused. There are two conspirators who helped the accused in arranging the vehicle and helping them escape,” he added.
