Mangaluru: Mangaluru city police arrested Kulshekar based James D’Mello (35) on Saturday for cheating a Karkala taluk based woman, Jacintha Mendonca (46) on the assurance of job in the middle east.

The accused reportedly made fake promise and assured the woman a home nurse job in Saudi Arabia with a monthly compensation of Rs 25, 000. Instead of the promise made by him, James D’Mello cheated the job aspirant and handed over her to a Mumbai based broker, Shaba Khan who reportedly sold the woman to a Saudi based employer for Rs 5 lakh. Out of Rs 5 lakh cash obtained, James D’ Mello received Rs 25,000 as his commission from Shaba Khan.

India’s external affairs ministry is on its mission to bring back the stranded woman to home as early as possible. The police are expected to arrest Shaba Khan inconnection with the case soon.
