Mangaluru : Police have arrested four persons in connection to derogatory messages posting against Durga Vahini and Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader Sharan Pumpwell on social media.

The arrested are Bhavani Shankar (32) from Sullia, Naushad (27) from Bajal, Ravi alias Tikki Ravi from Kavoor, and Jaya Kumar (33) from Moodbidri. The four were taken into custody on Tuesday June 1.

The accused had also  posted several messages like “Protect girls of your house from the demons of Hindu community on WhatsApp which had gone viral.

Under the guidance of police commissioner N Shashi Kumar, DCP (Law and Order) Hariramshankar, ACP Mangaluru central, Mangaluru east police station inspector and staff conducted the operation.
