Bantwal : A group of miscrents pelted stones at RSS activists Sharath madival’s final journey in BC Road turned violent once against amid tight security imposed at Kaikamba and Panemangaluru near BC Road.
One person seriously injured in the stone pelting incident while number of private vehicles including a bus and an ATM damaged in the incident.
The police have arrested nine miscreants in connection with the stone pelting incident who managed to pelt stones on the procession hiding in a commercial complex and houses at Kaikamba. Police are still searching for the culprits in the area as many of the miscreants are reportedly hiding in the commercial complex and nearby houses.
Meanwhile, body of the deceased has reached his native place Sajipu village for last rites. Thousands of people have reached his residence to witness the funeral. Thousands of people have also took part in the procession of the dead body from Mangaluru to Sajipu.
All commercial establishments, shops and others have be closed by the police on Saturday in BC Road. Vehicular movement on Mangaluru-Bengaluru through BC Road town has also been stalled following communal tensions. However, KSRTC buses reportedly plying on the roads crossing BC Road.
Western range IGP, SP, additional SP and other senior police officials have taken control of the situation and are trying hard to regulate traffic.
Thousand people including Sangh Parivar activists, Hindu organizations, and BJP leaders have gathered and took part in the procession with black flags tied to their two-wheelers. Police personnel have been closely monitoring the situation. Over 2,000 policemen including CRPF personnel have been entrusted with he responsibility of maintaining peace and order in the taluk.
