Mangaluru : Vitla police arrested two persons in connection to Kuntrakala Mary Statue removal from the government land on September 28.

The arrested persons identified as Jayaram Naik (37), Monappa Naik (48) residents of Kolnadu in Bantwal taluk.

The arrested produced before ACJ and JMFC court in Bantwal and The court ordered judicial custody to the accused till October 12.

Dakshina Kannada district superintendent of police (SP) Ravikanthe Gowda also suspended a policeman for the same case.

Ashok is the policeman who was suspended.

The suspension was relating to the case of statue demolition and installation of Koragajja idols and buntings at that place. The incident had taken place at Kuntrakal near Kolnadu in Bantwal taluk on the night of Thursday, September 28.
