Moodbidri : Police have arrested a couple on September 22, Monday on charge of killing of their neighbor at Daregudde Vittala Gudde.

The deceased has been identified as Raghu Bhandary (63), who was found dead in mysterious circumstances on September 12.

The police have arrested Maurice D’ Costa (58) and his wife Carmine D’Costa (50) and remanded them to judicial custody for 15 days after producing before the court.

According to the sources, the couple regularly fought with Raghu Bhandary over petty issue. Recently, they fought with each other the issue when the couple made a noise by beating on a tin box to drive away the wild animals entering their farm.

The argument turned into a heated conversation when Maurice banged the tin again and Ragu shouted at them. Angered by this Maurice hit his head with much force that killing him on the spot. The couple who was frightened by the death threw the body in a canal near his house.

On the next day, family members found the body with the injuries on the head near their house.

The couple confessed the crime during the police interrogation.
