Mangalore: The Mangalore police have successfully arrested the estranged husband Kiran Johnson Pereira of Merlapadav in the kidnap case of Philomena Serrao (25) on June 21, Wednesday. Speaking at the press meet Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh in his chamber said that the police have arrested Kiran and his five associates like Vasanth Kumar, Dharmaprakash, Satish alias Putta, Mohandasa and Yogesh were also arrested. The Tata Safari used for kidnapping has also been seized. Reportedly, Kiran wants to stay with his wife but Philiomena was not interested with him and applied for divorce. The case is being running in court from past 5 years. She had given the complaint regarding this in police station for 2 to 3 times and the police have even warned him, but nothing responded to him.
Singh said that, Kiran has a mental problem and is bit of psycho type. He had a criminal mentality and it is quite dangerous and the police department will speak to the in charge of Mphasis to provide security to her during the office hours and will provide police security forsome time at home, he added. The police will also investigate the case and take the information of the people who indirectly supported Kiran in this kidnap by providing shelter, food, mobile and money and will arrest them to create awareness to the society so that in future people must think before involving in others family matter. He said that, rescued Philomena who works at Mphasis Mangalore and was kidnapped from an Mphasis cab on her way to work. This was not kidnapped all of sudden but was a pre plan kidnap. This kidnap was registered on June 20, Monday. The police control room got the information late.
The entire rescue operation took place under the guidance of Inspector Manjunath Shetty along with P Subhash Chandra, Vinay Gaunkar, PrakashSub inspector of rural police station detected the case.
