16.06.10 Mangalore : A team led by ASP Amith Kumar Singh, has succeeded in tracing the murder case of B. Gangadhar Acharya (58), a finance agent, said SP A. Subrahmanyeshwar Rao.
Speaking at the press meet held in his office at Pandeshwar on June 15, Tuesday, he said that the police have arrested the culprit Madhav Naik of Kalladka, aged 24.
The case went on an interesting mode when Mohan Kumar, the manager of Bharath Finance, had lodged a complaint at Puttur police station on June 5, against Madhav Naik, who changed his name to Ganesh and reached his office asking for loan to release 8 pavans of gold from a rural bank at Puttur. Later Gangadhar who was working as the assistant at the finance office went missing, after Ganesh took Gangadhar with an amount of Rs. 1,15,000 to Puttur.
The police officials found the dead body of Gangadhar on the same day in a sewer at Kodimbady. Later the culprit was found with the help of a finance office clerk at Kundapura bus stand. It is said that, he was ready to escape to Mumbai by bus early in the morning on June 15, Tuesday.
The officials also confiscated a mobile phone, Rs. 93,420, and a knife. The SP awarded a cash prize of Rs. 5000 to the police investigative team, for arresting the culprit.
