Kasragod : A Headmistress of a private English medium school was arrested following a complaint filed by the parents of UKG student, who was locked up in a dog kennel for talking to friends.
It is learnt that, headmistress Sashikala of Jawahar English Medium School on the outskirts of the city was arrested as per the complaint filed by parents for keeping the tiny tots inside the dog kennel after taking it out.
The headmistress was charged under IPC sections 317 (exposure and abandoning of a child by a person having care of it), 342 (wrongful confinement) and Juvenile Justice (care and protection of child) Act.
The student’s class teacher Deepika, who locked up him in the kennel, is said to be absconding. But the school manager Raveendran Pillai denies of having such incident taken place in the school.
Kid’s parent Jomon said his son was locked up in the dog kennel from morning to evening. His elder daughter who is studying in an upper primary class at the same school saw her brother in kennel and informed headmistress, who in return threaten her to beat if she informed the family about the incident. He also said that kid was not given noon meal and the kids went to school on Friday with fear.
The incident came into light after girl revealed the incident to her relatives who suggested family to file complaint.
Opposition leader V S Achuthanandan urged the authorities to book kid’s class teacher and the headmistress under non-bailable offences for their inhumane act.
