Udupi: Public thrashed two youth of UP origin at Katpady for giving a love letter to a minor girl and handed over them to the police on Oct 1, Wednesday.
The arrested youths are identified as Mohammed Shoib (21) and Sajib (23) both from Uttar Pradesh. The duo worked for a furniture shop in Katpady and resided in a rented house.
It is learnt that, Sajib had written a love letter and asked Shoib to deliver it to the girl studying in 9th standard. Shoib had thrown the letter into the school vehicle while passing from their place.
As soon as the driver of the vehicle, saw the letter stopped the vehicle chased the culprit. The public who saw it also helped to catch the culprit and thrashed him. They also handed him to police who arrived at the spot.
Later the police also arrested Sajib, who wrote the letter.
Police have registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences act 2012 (Posco) based on complaint filed by minor girl’s mother.
The locals of Katpady urged the police to keep a database of migrant workers becoming nuisance to the society.
