Mangalore : CCB police arrested an accomplice of Vicky Shetty, in connection to the murder case of Durgaprasad Shetty from Badaga Yedapadavu village.

The arrested has been identified as Deekshit Poojary (25) from Maroli Niddel.

It is learnt that, Durgaprasad was murdered by a few persons armed with deadly weapons at Valencia in the city on September 22 in relation to financial transactions.

The police who invested the case immediately arrested four of the main accused, Santosh Shettigar, and other accused, Sandesh Kotian from Yekkur, Pawan Shetty from Shaktinagar, and Harshit Shetty from Kulshekhar on September 26.

However Deekshit who had remained elusive after the murder was arrested based on the information near the bus stand at Derebail Konchady. The accused has been handed over to Pandeshwar police station for further investigation.

According to the police, Deekshit is associated with underground criminal, Vicky Shetty, was involved with shootout at entrepreneur, Vijayendra Bhat, abduction and murder plan of lawyer, Prakash, murder of John Pinto from Mannagudda and a case of possessing illegal arms.

In connection to the possession of sword and gun, city crime branch staff had nabbed him in June this year. Then Deekshit had planned eliminate rich businessmen including Chandu alias Chandrahas Shetty from Kottara and Bharatesh and released in a week on receiving a bail.

Officials team led by CCB inspector, Valentine D’Souza and police sub-inspector, Shyam Sundar, working under the guidance of deputy commissioners of police, Dr Jagadish and Vishnuvardhan, participated in the arrest operation under the direction city police commissioner R Hitendra.
