Mangaluru : The Mangaluru North police have suo motu registered a case against Akbar Kudroli for making derogatory comments on the social media against Mangaluru Police Commissioner S. Murugan.
Akbar Kudroli made the comments against Mr. Murugan following the latter’s order on December 27 banning the entry of Islamic scholar Zakir Naik from making a public speech at a function to be held here on January 2.
Mr. Murugan barred Mr. Naik from entering the city between December 31 and January 6. This was to avoid a possible disturbance of peace in the region, as Mr. Naik has, in his earlier speeches, denounced Hindu gods.
Akbar Kudroli, in his post on his Facebook account called Muslim Yuva Sena, expressed anguish over the decision of Mr. Murugan. Akbar Kudroli is said to have referred Mr. Murugan and his family members in a derogatory way.
