Mangalore : A week-long drug awareness campaign organized by the Panambur North Sub Division on Panambur Beach concluded on Nov 19 Saturday.
Seemanth Kumar Singh, the Mangalore police commissioner, inaugurated the valedictory ceremony by flying a kite and riding the sand buggy.
Later he interacted with the students participated in the week-long campaign and appreciated for the efforts to make their sand sculptures.
Over 500 students participated in a march from Panambur Main Road to the beach, carrying placards bearing slogans against drug abuse. They also enacted skits on the occasion.
Speaking about the care of drug addicts, Saingh said that addicts must be rehabilitated and introduced into the main stream. He also urged the gathering to swear that they will never consume drugs.
