Mangalore : After a series of protest by VHP leaders and based on the a report submitted by DCP Vishnuvardhan, Police Commissioner R. Hithendra suspended Kavoor police sub-inspector Umesh Kumar on Oct 22, Monday.

During the protest staged by Bajarang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Police Commissioner who had assured VHP leader Jagdish Shenava to take action against the SI for the alleged assault on Bajarang Dal activist Charan has kept his promise by suspending SI as per the report.

It is learnt that, VHP leader Jagdish Shenava, had called for a Kavoor bandh on October 20, which was later withdrawn after commissioner assured them to take action.
