Mangalore : Dakshina Kannada district Superintendent of Police Sharanappa said that the district police will once again introduce the concept of electronic beats known as e-beats within a month, which will ensure the personnel’s to stick on to their duty allotted to them.
He was speaking at the SC/ST grievances meeting held at SP’s office on Sunday. SP also said that reintroduction of the system will solve existing problems.
At present, police maintain the record books at 10 places in the jurisdiction of a police station by the introduction of e-beat system; will provide Radio Frequency Identity Cards (RFID) tags to the constables which can be swiped in readers installed at important locations. No constables or personnel’s can manipulate the department through this system since each station will have more than 100 tags, 10 readers and one charger.
Dalit leader S P Anand urged SP to take action against editor of a weekly for publishing the word ‘Harijana’ in its Belthangady edition.
Anand also said that few members of the community are trying to close the Dalit atrocity cases through compromise after offering money to them and in turn SP said that there was no provision for compromise after filing a case.
A Dalit youth Rahuveer Soteerpet said that he Koraga community still follow the Ajalu’ practice hence there is need to create awareness among Koraga community members on Karnataka Koragas (Prohibition of Ajalu Practice) Act. He also said that a case has also been registered at Urwa police station in this regard.
