Mangalore : DK District-in-Charge Minister B Ramanath Rai directed the police officials to take stringent action against the untoward incident taking place to disrupt the law and order in the district.
He was speaking after chairing a peace committee meeting held at DC’s office on September 30, Tuesday to discuss overall measures to be taken during forthcoming season of festivals Vijayadashami, Bakrid, Deepavali, Christmas and others.
Rai also said that the persons taking law at their hands shall be detained at any cost without paying heed to any pressure. The people trying to stop the police on duty by protest will also be arrested as weel he said.
M B Puranik State President of VHP-Vishwa Hindu Parishat, urged the authorities concerned to take steps against the sacrifice animals during Bakrid at public places. Apart from it, illegal transportation of cattle should be checked by the department of police in order to prevent hurting of religious sentiments.
Muhammed Masood President of Muslim Central Committee (DK and Udupi district) the community must sacrifice as a part of ‘Khurbani’ as per the religious law. Action must be taken against the illegal cattle transporters, he said.
Balakrishna Rai of Federation of India urged the authorities to conduct peace meeting at each police station. Mogaveera Vyavasthapana Mandali President Yathish Baikampadi requested to improve public relations at police stations.
Commissioner of Police R Hithendra said that all measures will be taken within the framework of law and order to maintain peace in the district.
DK Zilla Panchayat CEO Thulasi Maddineni, Superintendent of Police Dr D Sharanappa, Deputy Commissioner A B Ibrahim, MLC Ivan D’Souza were present.
