Mangalore : Additional Director General of Police and Executive Director M N Reddy said that the police department has been directed to take action against the law breakers. The people can celebrate the festival with no tension and fear.
Addressing the media at Commissionerate office in Mangalore on August 7, Wednesday for the first time to discuss the law and order situation in the city, he said that people will right to stop the theft, dacoit at any situation at their house, but the same situation taking place in others house must be reported to police. Such kind of offense will be claimed as rowdism and clash as per the legal procedure.
He said that the shortage of staff in police department has been the problem in the state level. In this regard the state government is trying to recruit the staff to tackle the staff shortage problem. The measures have been taken to appoint the police personnel’s in last one month and the fund has been sanctioned in the Budget too.
Reddy said that in the coming three years, the problem of staff shortage will come down to an certain extent, which will strengthen the police department, he said.
ADGP Reddy also rubbished the allegation of governmental representative’s pressure to protect the cow thieves in the district. When the problem confronts, the department will work in its legal framework and will file the case against the culprits, he said.
Speaking on the Moodbidri Basadi theft case, police commissioner Manish Karbikar said the investigation was not possible due to lack of primary information. The clue was only the CCTV footage which was difficult in identification. But he was traced by the investigation teams at Andhra Pradesh.
The police have recovered 3 idols and 5 idols melted into gold bricks and remaining 7 idols are yet to be recovered.
