Mangalore : State Home Minister K J George said that Police Department will be upgraded soon in the state.
Addressing the press meet held at Commissionerate Office on June 19, Wednesday, Minister George said that the police officials working in the same post for more than 18 years will be immediately promoted.
At present, there is 18,000 to 19,000 posts vacant in the police department and Chief Minister Siddharamaiah has ordered to appointed personnel’s for the 8,000 posts immediately.
Government had kept 10 percent reservation for women in police department, but there is only 6 percent of women staffs in the department. Further the government will approve 20 percent reservation for women police and staffs, he added.
At present there is lack of 30,000 police quarters in the state and CM has passed out permission for immediately construction of 4,000 to 5, 000 houses.
Speaking on ASI Srikala sexual harassment case, minister said that the police committee has been formed to investigate the issue and the action will be taken against the culprit after getting a report.
