Mangalore : Abhishek Goyal, the superintendent of police, said that there is evidence against Linganna Malekudiya and Vittala Malekudiya, who were arrested for their involvement with Naxals. But this evidence cannot be made public since the case was still being investigated.
He was addressing the gathering at the SC/ST grievance meet held in his office on April 1, Sunday. Mr. Goyal gave the above explanation in response to a query from Belthangady Shekar, a Dalit leader, regarding the arrest.
When the Dalit leader said that that the Anti Naxal Force (ANF) had broken Linganna’s leg during interrogation, SP Goyal said that he was injured while attempting to run away from the ANF.
Later, there was also a exchange of words between Additional SP Prabhakar and Dalit leader Shekar over one of his comments on the SP.
Sarvottam Pai, the SP of Civil Rights Implementation, various Dalit leaders, and others were present.
