Mangaluru : The City police have issued guidelines for New Year celebrations and have urged the revellers to wind up their celebrations by 1 am on New Year’s Day.
With large crowds expected to gather in hotels, clubs and resorts, the police have issued guidelines for revellers as well as owners of venues hosting celebrations.
City Police Commissioner M Chandra Sekhar said the deadline will apply to organisations that have taken permission from the Excise department to distribute liquor. The celebrations should be within the premises of the organisation, club, resots and not outside. Even after obtaining permission from Excise department, the celebrations should wind up by 1 am.
In the name of celebrations, revellers should not smoke or consume liquor at public places like bus stand, park, stadium, railway stations. All hotels and resorts celebrating on New Year’s Eve must get permission from the police commissioner by Saturday, 4 pm. Legal action will be taken against those who go ahead with celebrations without doing so. The students and youth should not behave indecently in public places, said the commissioner.
Music at the party venue should be restricted to the space and must adhere to the Noise and Pollution (Regulation and Control) Rules 2000. No one will be allowed to consume alcohol or smoke in public spaces.
The police will be manning various areas and will take action against motorists doing stunts and driving in an inebriated state. A team has been constituted to check driving in inebriated state across the city. The police have set up an action force to monitor the celebrations across the city. The commissioner cautioned the youth against indulging in wheelie and drag racing.
He urged the organisers to take precautionary measures to ensure no untoward incidents takes place during the celebrations. Action will be taken against organisations where gambling takes place and nude dances perform in the name of New Year’s Eve celebrations. In addition, the police have formed a team to crack on those miscreants who behave indecently with women.
The police commissioner said that consumption of alocohol, gambling and nude dance on beaches have been banned. The bursting of crackers has also been banned. The organisers would be held responsible if any untoward incident occur in the name of disruption of law and order in the name of New Year celebrations. The organisers should take precautionary measures including fire extinguishers at the place of party.
