Udupi : The police in the district have been alert after the tragedy at Trasi that killed 8 students on Tuesday.

The police are now keeping a check on all vehicles carrying students to and from schools in the twin districts. Accordingly, the police have issued notices to about 30 school vehicles in Kaup, Padubidri and Shirva for overcrowding; they were asked to pay a penalty and were warned.

It is said that the drive would continue for another three days.
