Mangalore : District Police Department observed Police Martyrs Day at the CRP ground on October 21, Tuesday to pay tribute to the Mangalore Policemen who sacrificed their lives for the nation.

City Police Commissioner Hithendra and SP Dr. Sharanappa read out the names of the policemen who sacrificed their lives while on duty between 2013 and 2014.

Speaking on the occasion, Commissioner said that a total of 659 policemen have lost their lives while serving the nation during the year and their sacrifice must be source of inspiration for the police personnel.

IGP Western Range Amrit Paul, Mangalore Police Commissioner R Hithendra, SP Dr Sharanappa and District Judge were MG Uma, were present.

The officers lowered the police flag and observed two-minute silent prayer on the occasion.
