Mangaluru: Mangaluru police have caught a big fish. The CCB police have nabbed a man with 51.7 kg of ganja worth Rs 10.50 lakh, at Konaje on Thursday.
Speaking to the media persons Police Commissioner Chandra Sekhar, on Thursday said that the accused is identified as Moideen Nawaz (29) of Uppala, Kasargod.
“He is the biggest ganja peddler in Kasargod and Mangaluru. He used to distribute the ganja in large quantities. Police have also seized a Toyota Innova car which was used to transport the ganja. The accused was caught at Konaje on Thursday,” he said.
He further said that the ganja was being smuggled to Mangaluru and Kasargod. It was transported from Vishakapattanam. Police team chased and arrested the accused at Natekal, Konaje which comes under Konaje police jurisdiction.
A team of CCB Inspector Sunil Nayak, PSI Shyam Sundar, Ram Poojary, Sheenappa, Yogish and other took part in the operation, under the guidance of Commissioner Chandra Sekhar.
