Mangaluru: The police prevent vegetable and fruits vendors to reopen their business in Central market on Tuesday, June 9.
The vendors were shifted to Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC) yard at Baikampady from the central market building during the Covid-19 lock down.
The city corporation ordered closure of the market as there will be a new market complex built in the area, but it has disgruntled many vendors who forcefully tried reopening their shops.
However, police officials prevented the vendors from conducting business in the market which led to verbal spat between them .
Police officials placed barricades and were present near the market as they were aware of the vendors being shifted here.
Central Market Merchants Association claims that the business can be opened here as the court has stayed shifting of the market.
However, City corporation commissioner warned of taking legal action against the vendors who open their business in central market and also said that their licenses will be revoked.
