Police raid petty shops close by schools ; seize tobacco products

drugsMangalore : A police team  under the supervision of DCP (Central) Kavitha raided several petty shops in close vicinity of educational institutions on February 4, Monday and seized several tobacco products.

Inspectors Manjunath Shetty attached to Bunder police station, Raghava Padil from Kadri, and Ramachandra Malegoudar  and Barke police sub-inspector, Mohammed Shariff,  conducted the raids. Large quantity  of beedi and gutka packets were seized as shops close by schools are not supposed to sell such products..

The raids come close on the heels of the suicide of Sneha, a 17 year old girl, who was a drug addict,
