Mangaluru: Mangaluru police raided two places in connection with illegal SIM cards which were seized while raiding the district prison.

Police team led by ACP Uday Naik and Bender police Inspector Shantharam Kunder raided a shop named Crown in Balmata and Cameo Company situated at Urwa, on Tuesday.

Crown shop is a dealer for TATA Docomo SIM cards. Police have taken the necessary documents which were needed for the investigation. Cameo Company undertakes the outsourcing work of document processing of SIM cards.

Two undertrail jail inmates Shivaprasad and Rizwan were found using mobile phones, during the raid. Shivaprasad who is an accused of Vinayak Baliga murder case, had a SIM card which was registered in the name of Kareem, who had died in May 2015 and the SIM card was issued in October 2015.

Rizwan who is an accused of Charan murder case had a SIM card registered in Cleven Philip’s name. As per the police sources Cleven didn’t even had any idea about this.

The role of above mentioned shops in this case is not known yet.

As many as 29 SIM cards were seized by the police during the last raid to the district prison.
