Mangaluru : Police Department will set up a police station at Dharmasthala shortly, according to Sharanappa S.D., Superintendent of Police, Dakshina Kannada.
The Home Department has cleared the notification under Criminal Procedure Code for opening the station, he said in an informal chat with media here on Sunday.
The Department has tentatively identified about 30 cents of Government land about 300 mts away from the main entrance to the temple town. The Department is now searching for a rented building to open the station temporarily there.
He had also sent a proposal to upgrade the police outpost at Bellare in Sullia taluk. The Government has dropped a proposal of opening a Police Station at Nelyadi on Mangaluru-Bengaluru National Highway by upgrading the police outpost there.
The Government has been requested to demarcate the limits of Puttur traffic police station, he said. The 12 villages of Nelyadi police outpost as per the proposal will be attached to Uppinangady police station as far as traffic issues are concerned, he said.
