Mangalore : A team of police officials led by the Mysore Division DIG(Prisons) Vishwanathaiah raided the District Jail in Mangalore and found two packets of ganja and seventeen mobile phones hidden inside the jail. The raiding team also found seven mobile chargers and two packs of playing cards in the prison.
Vishwanathaiah later told reporters that the raid was done at the directive of the Chief Minister who had given instructions in this regard at a meeting recently. He said many more such raids would be carried out.
The DIG said the ganja and mobile phones were found hidden, but it is not yet known as to whom it belonged to. He further said investigations will be done.
ACP Kavitha, Circle Inspector Ravish Naik, ACP Kiran, Sub-Inspectors Madan Kumar, Nanda Kumar, Sharief and others were part of the raiding team.
