Mangalore : Congress released a ‘charge sheet’ against the Congress-led government as it completes four years of its tenure, the chief whip of government in Legislative Council Ivan D’Souza countered the move by releasing a ‘charge sheet’ against the former chief minister BS Yeddyurappa, Union minister H N Ananth Kumar and 44 other BJP leaders.
Releasing a list of 15 cases that were registered against Yeddyurappa in Lokayukta, MLC Ivan said that the BJP state president has no moral rights to release a ‘charge sheet’ against the Congress government. “The state government has appealed before the Supreme Court in connection with 15 cases registered against Yeddyurappa questioning the High Court’s judgment. Yeddyurappa, who created a history by going to jail as a chief minister, has no moral right to talk against the Congress. BJP had made corruption a main agenda when they were in power. We have successfully completed four years and no minister from Congress government has been sent to jail,” Ivan ridiculed adding that let Yeddyurappa and BJP leaders understand the meaning of ‘charge sheet’.
Ivan also brought another list of 44 BJP leaders including MLAs and corporators, who are involved in various criminal cases in the state.
Inviting BJP leaders for an open discussion, Ivan said that the Congress is ready for a debate and will release list of achievements if the Opposition dares to face the challenge. “The BJP has made ‘Congress-free’ state an agenda. Our agenda is not making the state ‘BJP-free’, but we want to make the state ‘hunger-free’ through government schemes,” he added.
