Udupi: Udupi district police have prepared a proposal to construct skywalkers at 28 different locations in the district to cross the national highways (NH). The proposal prepared will be submitted to the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) to execute the plan properly.
The police department has asked to construct 23 skywalkers between Hejamadi and Shiruru on NH 66 whereas it stressed the need for five skywalkers on Malpe and Thirthahalli NH 169 (A) in Udupi.
Meanwhile, NHAI has already constructed underpasses at Kapu main town, Karvali junction, Brahmavara junction, Kota junction, Shastri circle and Kirimanjeshwara of the district to esure the safety of the walkers.
Speaking on the proposal, Udupi District Superintendent of Police Dr Sanjeev Patil said, “in an attempt to ensure the safety of the walkers and following unscientific road construction works in the district, the police department has decided to send a proposal to construct 28 skywalkers in Udupi district.” Sanjeev Patil also urged the people to provide information on the location where a sky walker could help the people move smoothly and ensure their safety.
