Udupi : Hariprasad, the second accused in the case of the gang rape of a medical student of Manipal University, was produced before the Udupi district court on July 3, Wednesday. As his police custody period has ended, the court has now remanded him to judicial custody till July 15.

It has been learnt that he will be shifted to Shimoga jail as police fear he may be attacked in the Udupi jail. It is learnt he will be shifted owing to security reasons.

The other accused Anand will be lodged in Hiriadka Jail. The prime accused Yogish who had consumed poison is still undergoing treatment in hospital.

Brothers of accused produced before court : Even Balachandra  and Harindra Narayana, the brothers of the accused Yogish and Hariprasad were produced before the court amid tight security. They too were remanded to judicial custody till  July 15. They are facing charges of destroying evidences in the case. Forensic reports had revealed that they had removed the blood stains in the autorickshaw used in the crime, thereby helping to shield the accused.
