Bantwal : A police personnel attached to Vittal police station has reportedly tested positive for coronavirus on May 24 in Dakshina Kannada district.
A police constable who came in contact with Mumbai returnee tested positive on Sunday, May 24.
The police constable who has tested positive belongs to Vittal police station of Bantwal taluk.
A person who had arrived on May 14 from Raigad of Maharashtra had tested positive for coronavirus. The infected person had gone to the Vittal police station before going to quarantine. It is suspected that the police constable got the infection from that person.
The coronavirus positive case came to light during the swab test done on police personnel.
The district administration is yet to officially confirm the case.
With this the count of cases in DK has reached 66 positive, out of which 34 are currently active. As many as 26 persons have recovered and been discharged, and six deaths have occurred so far.
